The
Three Oldest Pieces of Church Plate
The
paten is hall-marked 1705, the flagon 1749 and the chalice
1742.
All
are engraved with the sacred monogram I.H.S., the Cross
and three nails in a glory. The Chalice is inscribed
"The Gift of Thomas Hill" and the flagon has
a long Latin inscription which translates - "This
flagon was given for use in the chapel in the centre
of Stourbridge by John Cook of Stourton",
The
flagon is 40cm tall.
