Welcome - St Thomas’s is a Church of England Church within the Diocese of Worcester

Dear Friends,

Welcome to St Thomas' website.

St Thomas is an attractive Georgian Church to be found in the town centre of Stourbridge, affectionately known as "St Thomas' opposite Waitrose".

Its worship and tradition is liberal catholic, but it is also a place where we hope people are challenged by the gospel teaching (see services).

The church was founded to serve the townspeople of Stourbridge and built by public subscription. It was here for over 100 years before being fully incorporated into the structures of the Church of England (see History).

The present congregation is of a good age and social mix and very welcoming and can be met at coffee after the Sunday morning service. The church also has a fine musical tradition (see Music).

We hope you enjoy visiting St Thomas' website, and we hope to welcome you to the church itself.

Confirmation at St Thomas’s

There will be a Confirmation service at St Thomas’ during the 10am service on February 1st 2009.

Rev Ron will be starting preparation and discussion for people of all ages who would like to explore the possibility of Confirmation. Sessions for young people, who should normally be aged 10 and over, will take place in the Vestry on Tuesday evenings between 6.30 and 7pm

Adults will be invited to a few separate discussions early in December and January. Time to be arranged.

Confirmation is an important step in our Christian faith within the Church of England, and, in addition to receiving the consecrated bread and wine during Holy Communion, it is part of our closer relationship with God and Jesus.

CHRISTIAN AID - Present Aid 2008

The “Present Aid Catalogue” contains the “virtual gifts” offered by Christian Aid . A “Present Aid Gift” helps to bring genuine, lasting change to those in the developing world who need it most. We can browse the catalogue and buy “gifts” that “go on growing “ this Christmas.

The money received by Christian Aid for each “gift” will be directed into one of six project funds related to the type of gift (Agriculture and Livestock, Emergencies and Disaster Preparedness, Healthcare, Water and Environment, Training and Education, Power and Energy) . In return for our donation we receive a “Gift Card” that we can give to friends and family, the Gift Card relates to what we chose from the catalogue.

If you would like to choose a “gift” that supports the work of Christian Aid please take a catalogue from the South Porch, phone 01375 484561 or 0121 200 2283 for a catalogue or visit www.presentaid.org. Ordering is easy with a form that can be posted off, or a hotline to call or order online through www.presentaid.org.
