Thank you for your continued support of this most worthwhile
organization during 2007. Through your subscriptions and concert
attendance we are able to fund an organ scholar, purchase
music and robes that would otherwise be unaffordable, and
can contribute to the Church Appeal.
We
have a very full programme organised for you in 2008, with
a first appearance of the Cannock Chase Orpheus Male Choir
in April. March and May see the welcome return of Bravura
and Old Swinford Hopsital School Swing Band and Stream of
Sound make their annual appearance at the end of August. We
are thrilled that, in October, Nathan Vale, who is fast becoming
an internationally acclaimed lyric Tenor, has kindly agreed
to donate a Song Recital in aid of the Appeal.
As
a prelude to Christmas, The Friends have invited Solihull
Choral Society to give their ever-popular Carol Concert on
Wednesday 10th December, prior to their Solihull performance
on 13th. So it’s an action-packed year!
Please
support us as much as you can, since the future of music in
St Thomas’s is made more secure by your commitment.
Andrew
Fletcher, Director of Music

JOIN
THE FRIENDS ...
Music
is a very expensive commodity and would be difficult to fund
were it not for the Friends of the Music, an organisation
set up in 1994 to promote music at St Thomas's through an
annual concert series and to raise money for the choir and
associated projects such as the organ. They also provide the
finance for an organ scholar each year. A number of choristers
have taken up choral or organ scholarships at cathedrals and
universities, and there is within the programme a strong emphasis
on the encouragement and development of the young musicians
of tomorrow.
If
you would like to become a Friend of the Music at St Thomas's,
please come along to Church to pick up a membership form,
or telephone Graham Gwynne on 01384 374 929.
We
exist to promote music at St Thomas's, both within and outside
the liturgy. For a small annual subscription - £5 for
individuals and £10 for Family Membership - you receive
advance notification and booking facilities for all our concerts
together with concessionary rates on presentation of your
current membership card.
By
joining the organisation you know that you are helping to
further the cause of music in St Thomas's through your generous
financial support.
